Forest Carbon Project Standard v1.0

The Forest Carbon Project Standard v1.0 includes requirements for afforestation and reforestation (AR), improved forest management (IFM) and reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD) projects.

The Forest Carbon Project Standard v2.0 amplifies and clarifies version 1.0 of the same document. When published as a final standard following public consultation and peer review, v2.0 will supersede v1.0 which will then be retired. Project Proponents currently developing a project under v1.0 have the option of using v2.0 once published, or continuing to use v1.0 provided the project is registered by May 1, 2010. Projects may be registered as pending later verification and issuance, provided the Project Proponent has submitted and ACR has certified a GHG Project Plan meeting all requirements of the ACR Standard and relevant sector standards. ACR will not issue ERTs to any project prior to a successful verification. The May 1 deadline applies only to projects wishing to use Forest Carbon Project Standard v1.0; there is no deadline for registration for projects using v2.0.
