Improved Forest Management (IFM) Methodology for Increased Forest Carbon Sequestration on U.S. Timberlands

The methodology for Improved Forest Management (IFM) for U.S. Timberlands details requirements for privately owned timberlands in the U.S. to quantify GHG removals and emissions reductions. The methodology is applicable to industrial timberlands over 1,000 acres where the improved forest management (IFM) project activity enhances sequestration relative to a baseline scenario representing the legally permissible harvest that would maximize net present value of perpetual wood products harvests using locally approved silvicultural prescriptions.

Projects using this methodology must comply with all requirements of the ACR Standard, submit a GHG Project Plan for certification by ACR, and secure independent verification by an ACR-approved third-party verifier.
